Though I have felt the expression of clay being too talkative for sometime, I have come to decide to take this expression into my artwork. It is how I started “The Surface Series”. One day I found an innumerable wrinkle, the wound, and dirt attached to the back and bottom of my work. I found very impressive shapes in some wasted pieces on clay slab, as if they were painted with color pigment. A lump of clay is thrown on the plywood, and is extended, just like water flows as the gravity leads. Then It is turned over when dries. I look for the kind of expression I wish to see in repeating this process. I color the surface of clay with cobalt blue and try to combine a lump of clay and delicate surface.
I create the scene of the “Clay flow”, which brings out the beautiful image of rain flow.
